Our gorgeous Stockbridge wedding
My husband and I wanted a gorgeous Stockbridge wedding, county chic, natural, rustic, and most certainly not an over styled unfamiliar wedding. We wanted it to ideally outdoors but with an option for shelter in the case of rain.
My bridesmaids wore soft light grey dresses which had the option to be worn in three different styles to whichever suited them – I wanted them to feel comfortable. With this dress colour in mind, when choosing the flowers, the colour scheme we went for had soft pastel tones of blush pinks, peaches, yellows and creamy whites. Our main flowers were roses, daisy’s, green and blue thistles and antirrhinums. Sticking to the theme, my bouquet was loosely structured with a handpicked feel. We were lucky enough not to have to go too big on flowers, as the venue we chose had lots of natural flowers in the garden.
Choosing the dress was actually more difficult than I thought – advise to all brides-to-be would be not to leave it to the last minute, shop around and try on all different styles. I ended up choosing a dress designed by Stephanie Allin from her Bellissimo collection. It had a french embroidered and beaded bodice with a v-neckline, cap sleeves and a plain fitted skirt – I absolutely loved wearing it!
My personal favourite moment of the day was just after the ceremony. The sun was out, all our guests were drinking, mingling and playing outdoor games with a gypsy jazz band playing in the background. It was very relaxed and such a good atmosphere – even better than what we’d envisioned and one we’ll never forget. Instead of wedding favours, we decided to go slightly bigger on the food and drink. We provided all the soft drinks and alcohol, making it a free bar for our guests… there was even a signature cocktail that we created which went down very well!
Our main piece of advice to anyone getting married would be to stop every now again throughout their big day and take it all in. The day will go by in a flash and it’s so important to have those memories which will stick with you forever.
