Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, Piet Oudolf
Mirroring, yet also enhancing the existing statement rich colours, textures and fabrics, and the modern, luxurious and contemporary feel. The private dining room Fox Hollow in the Wild Carrot, played host to this beautifully curated Hampshire Wedding Club editorial. This blissful and relaxed part of the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is the newly renovated dining room and, bar and guest lounge.
“We wanted to embrace a country getaway feeling in our editorial styling. Creating beautiful wedding inspiration for couples seeking to escape for a long weekend celebration in one of the most picturesque rural retreats in the UK’s home counties. The Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is a historic Georgian property, which exudes a romantic, unpretentious feeling that is welcoming and immediately restful”.
For this editorial the team took inspiration directly from the beautiful pastoral scenery visible through the large floor-to-ceiling windows in the spacious dining room. They also cleverly added something truly innovative, bold and “perennially” inspiring to the mix, as you will see.
“How do you create a modern bridal editorial for the Four Seasons Hotel, Hampshire that is both incredibly stylish and iconic?”
Wisley Days in the sun
In July 2018 whilst watching the coverage of Hampton Court flower show, I connected a strong family memory of happy days at Wisley Gardens, with my passion for editorial shoot creation.
Working with Paula Rooney to create a very naturalistic, yet elegant plant and flower scheme was so exciting, and pairing that with the bold, energetic and brilliant concepts of Wild and Wonder Events allowed us to create something that is both robust and alive. We think this is a breath-taking concept, one which truly compliments and takes to another level the “outside in trend” we are seeing across modern wedding styling.
“The planting and floral combinations we created from our research dictated a vibrant colour palette that is both dynamic and playful. We wanted to in essence use the “broken flowerbed rule book” Piet advocates and adapt it into a floral design perfect for adventurous yet luxury, countryside brides”.
Piet Oudolf is the founder of a naturalistic, perennial meadow garden styling movement. Funnily enough one of his most celebrated spaces graced the front cover of Country Life on the same month of the editorial shoot took place. This team effortlessly created something ornamental and distinct, with a strong structural design that we are in awe of. I have to say now the incredible floating flower bed above the dining table, is something to behold. Outstanding work by Paula Rooney Weddings.
Planned by The County Wedding Clubs and Wild and Wonder Events, with floral design by Paula Rooney Weddings, photographs by Cooper Photography and gorgeous invitations by Belles Soeurs this is an editorial shoot bursting with heavenly garden wedding detailing. Full of texture, style, colour and inspiration we believe it will most definitely become a blueprint for garden style weddings everywhere. The incredible part of this editorial is it absolutely could be adapted to any colour palette, and any season. Should you prefer spring over autumn, there is no reason this could not work for you.
The make up by Frances Moore is luminous, soft and elegant, creating a sophisticated modern look for Karen. A perfect complement to the weekend wedding style the team created together, Karen is flawless, and remained utterly perfect all day. The hair style coiffed by Michelle of Bridal Hair in Hampshire relaxed as the morning progressed, the soft waves emerged from the morning curls, creating an informal yet luxuriously beautiful look. The glorious images captured by Stu and Anna from Cooper Photography are sublime.
“Stu is one of the most extraordinary photographers I have the privilege of working alongside in the Hampshire Wedding Club, his exceptional calibre and effortless shooting style ensure he was completely at home at the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire. We all know being in front of the camera is an intimate sometimes daunting experience. Stu and Anna have such an immaculate, gentle, and kind approach, there is simply nothing nerve jangling to feel. They work together in perfect unison, constantly chatting to each other, a skill stemming from being husband and wife as well as business partners. Loving what you do is fundamental to your success in the wedding industry. Stu and Anna have such a beautiful outlook, they are passionate yet humble, and he is always hugely supportive of those around him”.
Vibrant and inviting
The style, vibrancy and awe-inspiring perennial garden magic of this editorial is clearly captured brilliantly in both extraordinary film and traditional digital by Stu and Anna. It is a stunning inspirational shoot to look through from start to finish.
The florals and décor in this inspired wedding inspiration fell to the dream duo of Paula of Paula Rooney Weddings and Sarah of Wild and Wonder Events. Together they created a exquisite garden above the dining table. The bespoke table stands and moongate built by Wild and Wonder were and all carefully sprayed in the most extraordinary plum colour, to build on the pops of colour we designed into the scheme with the planting. Bringing in sensuous notes with herbs (dill) and extraordinary combinations of bold and soft coloured perennials, plants, foliage and flowers.
Hayley Elizabeth Cake Design created an extraordinary cake. A 3- tiered textured plum cake adorned with the most realistic yellow sugar poppies we have ever seen.
The stationery was expertly curated by Sarah and Steph of Belles Soeurs specifically for this shoot, we chose vellum and nude papers to blend with the other elements of the tablescape and each place card was hand finished using acrylic paint to add texture, they were the perfect complement to the gown.
Finally, Barbara Tipple is one of the most accomplished jewellers in Britain today, and the creations she hand delivered to the Four Seasons were simply divine.
From her shop in Southsea, a few doors away from her daughters’ shop (Freya Rose) – yes! perfection runs in the family Barbara has attained worldwide recognition for her heritage and excellence in jewellery design and creation. She is the only female jeweller in Britain to have received 3 De Beers Diamond International awards. Tasha says “a favourite piece of everyone’s was the oak leaf ring, incorporating a striking sugar loaf peridot, it is set in 18 carat yellow gold with an oak leaf design. Perfectly in keeping with our countryside shoot”.
Bravo to this incredible team of Hampshire-based wedding industry team of specialists who bought together their ideas seamlessly, creating a unique representation on glorious landscape garden design.
